As a plant-based endurance athlete you have high iron requirements due to hard training however this does not mean you need to consume lean red meat 3-4 time a week to meet those requirements.

Getting to know like-minded business owners who follow a plant-based diet is what makes our lifestyle so motivating. We have a mantra when it comes to ultra running. It needs to pass the three C’s test which is: the course, the community and the challenge. Understanding why you race will help you determine which races you enter.
I have known Craig for over 2 years and during this time he has been instrumental in me pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. As my coach and personal friend, his ability to make you believe anything is possible is contagious, although I am not sure I will ever take on the challenge of 8in8in8 (but you should never say never!)
I always say ‘I don’t do easy’, it’s the challenging and unsuspecting races that give me the greatest lessons and keep the fire burning in my belly. 2016 is yet another massive year and I plan to keep hold of the opportunities with both hands and see where they take me. My mantra is to believe more, race harder and recover faster. Does this resonate with you?

Lists. I have lists and tasks that are carried out and ticked at the end of the day meaning I am 100% productive. I don’t want to waste a moment of this year; it’s going to be a big year. As we move further into the year, I am still thinking about last year – although when I talk about the events of 2015 I am still saying this year, its now in the past but wow what a year it was. What do you remember of 2015?

Being healthy isn’t a luxury or a fad, it’s a lifestyle in which you adopt, thrive and endure for the long run. It’s not about celebrity endorsements; bold marketing claims or that instragram post that gets the highest amount of likes. It’s about adopting real food principles and listening to your body – about being spiritually connected; mind, body and soul.

Plan your Christmas feast, shop and then cut it by half. Don’t over consume this festive season. It goes without saying we want to eat well but this does not mean we are going to eat more than normal. The only difference is we all graze more as oppose to eating 3 solid meals. In my household lunch is the main meal followed by something light in the evening being careful the whole time not to feel like we need to adjust our pants or belt buckles!

The festive season is about balance but its also about having more time to do what you love the most – train and recover. Unlike any other month of the year, there is a special hum in the air; everyone is busier than usual working not to mention counting down to the pending holidays. We are starting to think about Christmas presents which can make entering the vicinity of a shopping centre an absolute nightmare. Wherever you look, something is happening that puts you well and truly in the festive mood – good or bad.
